As the race for the White House gets under way with Barack Obama going up against Mitt Romney in the polls soon, a new article has been published that gives information regarding the homes owned by both candidates across the country.
The report shows that Romney owns a number of properties, with homes in California, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He previously owned another two properties: one in Belmont, MA, which was a large estate and sold for $3.9 million in 2009, and a ski home located in Park City, UT, which he also sold in 2009 for just over $5.25 million.
Obama, the report claims, owns just one home, which can be found in Chicago and was purchased for $1.65 million. This 6,199 square foot home, which was built in 1917, can be found on Greenwood Avenue in the city.
Although he has not spent much time getting involved in the property market, Obama did rent property during his time living in New York when he was attending Columbia University during the 1980s. This apartment, which was located on the Upper West Side, was reported to cost $2,400 a month and contained two bedrooms and one bathroom.
It is Romney, however, who seems to be the real property aficionado when it comes to the Presidential candidates. His property portfolio boasts a beachfront home in La Jolla as his main home, which cost $12 million, while he also spends time at his townhouse in Belmont, which cost a relatively modest $895,000. His final property is an set on 11 acres of land on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee and cost the Romney’s $3 million in 1997.
