Woodbine Development Corporation yesterday announced the details regarding an expansion and renovation program worth $35 million for Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa, which is located in San Antonio. The project will effectively double the indoor function space of the resort, triple its pre-function space, add new exterior function space, enhance and freshen both the landscaping and guest rooms, and expand the popular water park in order to include a tower slide and FlowRider wave machine. This will be the first hotel in Texas to have such a machine.
The project is being managed by Woodbine, with interior design services being provided by WATG and Wimberly Interiors; the architect of record is HKS Hill Glazier Studio; Rialto Studio Inc is managing the improvements to the landscape; and Hardin Construction Company LLC is involved as a general contractor.
The whole project is expected to be completed by the fall of next year, with some sections of the project likely to be finished by the spring. The resort opened as the first true destination resort in Texas nearly 20 years ago, back in February 1993, and the project is to celebrate two decades of successful operations next year.
“We’re elated that we can bring these new enhancements to this very special property,” says the president and chief executive officer of Woodbine, John Field Scoville. “While much of what this resort offers is about tradition, we want to reward our loyal guests with new experiences and capture group customers who needed more function space than we were able to provide in the past.”
The indoor function space of the resort is to be increased from around 35,000 square feet to almost 70,000 square feet, which includes the addition of a new 20,000 square foot bathroom.
