Winner of the 1993 Academy Award for supporting actor in The Fugitive and more recently known for his roles in Men in Black and Lincoln, actor Tommy Lee Jones has put his 52-acre polo ranch in Florida on the market for a staggering $26.75 million, which equates to almost $500,000 per acre.
The polo estate near Palm Beach is located at 12250 S 40th St. It is close to the beach and Worth Boulevard, and this area has firmly established itself as one of the East Coast’s top luxury real estate strips. The property was originally purchased in two separate lots, with 40 acres acquired in 2002 for $2.95 million and ten acres in 2003 for $1.1 million, giving the actor a very impressive return on his initial investment.
The estate boasts a regulation polo field, a practice field, stalls to house 48 horses, two barns, and trails. There is an 11,000-square-foot house on the property, which leads on to the polo field from an outdoor veranda; some vistas look out onto the impressive Southern Florida landscape.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom house is not thought to have undergone any major renovations. The focus and undoubtedly the main appeal of the estate comes from the surrounding land, which was purpose-designed to accommodate the game of polo. Everything is in very good condition, according to reports.
The American polo scene centers on the Hamptons during the summer and Palm Beach during the winter.
In addition to the estate in question, Jones owns an estate in the polo capital of the world, Buenos Aires. He also owns a cattle ranch in his home state of Texas.
