Her story is one of the most famous in the world and now someone has the chance to pick up a piece of America's most infamous history for $1m, complete with bullet holes and lake view.
The house, which is located 62 miles northwest of Orlando, Florida in rural Ocklawaha, was the site of one of the most celebrated FBI raids in American history. Kate 'Ma' Barker had been wanted for a series of kidnappings, murders and robberies that she had committed with her infamous gang, and the house is where the FBI finally killed her.
Interest in the property has been wide-ranging, with many people looking at purchasing it for a number of different uses, including as a bed and breakfast establishment. There have been efforts to patch up the bullet holes with plaster; however, the real estate agent believes that these add to the uniqueness of the property. The real estate agent responsible for the sale said: "It's like walking into a time capsule in 1935. The fact that it has this extra history is a really interesting cachet." The FBI was reported to have fired 2,000 shots in the standoff, which lasted for four hours.
The property comes with splendid views over a lake, with ample garden space, and the suggested starting price for bidding is $1 million. The FBI also took down one of Ma Barker's sons in the house in the 1935 raid, and it has remained in the Barker family since that day.
